Radish & Edamame Salad

Radish & Edamame Salad

I grew up eating thinly sliced radish with scallions dressed with sour cream and salt. The radish would release some liquid making an incredibly flavorful dressing.  I think that there’s an unwritten Russian obsession with sour cream. Really, I can’t blame them. They put sour cream on anything and everything. It’s delicious!

In an effort to lighten up the flavor and let the delicious crispness of…

Chicken Cacciatore with Roasted Peppers

Chicken Cacciatore with Roasted Peppers

This chicken dish is a fantastic option for family style meals, for pot luck dinner and also great for buffet style meals. It reheats very well and it would be fantastic to freeze and share with a new mom or with someone recovering from surgery. Basically, it’s a great dish under any circumstance!

Try it with your family or friends and leave me a comment letting me know how much they love it!

Radicchio Pizzette with Shaved Parmesan

Radicchio Pizzette with Shaved Parmesan

I have the distinct privilege to call a lunch out with friends “Research and Development”. It’s the perfect way to taste new flavor combinations and see the brilliance that other talented chefs are creating. Sometimes, I just enjoy the meal. Other times, I’m so taken by a particular item that I begin to obsess with recreating the dish myself.

Broccoli & Cauliflower Salad with Turkey Bacon

Broccoli & Cauliflower Salad with Turkey Bacon

Here’s a great salad that uses a bit of mayo to make an otherwise boring salad, extraordinary! I usually don’t use a mayonnaise-based salad dressing because I find them too heavy and bulky. A mayo-based dressing works so well in this salad because the flavors and texture of the broccoli and cauliflower are so strong on their own that a slightly creamier dressing helps to them mellow out.

Orzo with Olives, Tomatoes & Chickpeas

Orzo with Olives, Tomatoes & Chickpeas

I’m obsessed with using orzo for pasta salads. Maybe I’m just obsessed with orzo. When I was a kid my mom would cook a box and then store the cooked pasta in the fridge. She’d add it to soup (because we ate soup every day) for my sister and I to make the soup more interesting. Sometimes, we’d convince her to let us eat plain orzo. What a treat!!

Quinoa with Dried Cherries & Pistachios

Quinoa with Dried Cherries & Pistachios

Over the summer, I started making a salad with Orzo, Red Grapes and Pistachios. The ingredients are simple and the flavor combination is astounding! The salad has been a hit every time I’ve made it, both for family gatherings and for pot luck dinners.

Shortcut Blood Orange Cranberry Biscotti

Shortcut Blood Orange Cranberry Biscotti

The first time I made shortcut biscotti, I took the recipe from a fantastic beach read. I loved it so much that I made it my own and blogged about it. Go ahead, check out the Shortcut Mocha Macadamia Nut Biscotti. Since then, I’ve been swapping out biscotti ingredients based on items that I have in my pantry.
